TAKE LISA MOORE HOME CONTEST: WINNER! Catherine Beaudette, Toronto, ON

Between September and December 2014, all new subscriptions to Riddle Fence were entered into a draw to win this framed original work (left) by Lisa Moore.

Congratulations, Catherine! And thank you all for supporting Riddle Fence during this critical time.

THE ART Framed, "The Overfalls" is the first in the Beyond Words: Writers Making Art series, which combines our love of artwork and letters from people you might not expect to possess both talents. The piece continues Moore’s work of sketching and painting the landscape between Western Bay and Broad Cove in Conception Bay. The exacting nature of watercolour is a perfect medium for the energy and spontaneity of her work, allowing her to play off its limitations and inevitable accidents.

THE ARTIST Before becoming one of Canada’s finest writers, Lisa Moore studied visual art at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. She has recently exhibited her work at The Leyton Gallery in St. John’s and Victoria House in Harbour Grace. She divides her time between St. John’s and Broad Cove.
